It is based on the principle of transferring embryos formed by the combination of male (sperm) and female (egg) germ cells under laboratory conditions into the uterus. Fertilization, which takes place in laboratory conditions, can be achieved either spontaneously (in vitro fertilization) or through manual intervention by injecting a single sperm into a single egg (intracytoplasmic sperm injection).
